# FreelancerKit

> FreelancerKit is a workspace for freelancers, still in development, that keeps clients, per-client task boards, a time tracker and PDF invoices in one app. It will be open-sourced under AGPLv3 at launch and will run on the Cloudflare free tier (Workers and D1), so your data stays in your own database and there is no per-seat fee.

Status: in development, not yet released. The landing page, a working task-to-invoice demo and the API skeleton exist. The full app does not, and the source code is not public yet.

## What it does

- Clients: one record per client with an hourly rate, payment terms and tax rate.
- Boards: a task board for each client.
- Timer: start a timer on any task. Tracked time stays on the task.
- Invoices: tick finished tasks and create an invoice with line items, hours times rate, subtotal, tax and total. PDF download is planned for the first release.

## Hosting and license, planned for launch

- License: FreelancerKit will be open-sourced under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 at launch.
- Self-hosting: at launch you will deploy the Worker and a D1 database to your own Cloudflare account. The Workers free plan allows 100,000 requests per day.
- The API refuses every request except /health until you configure sign-in, either a password hash, a Better Auth secret, or Cloudflare Access.

Planned pricing. Nothing is for sale yet; join the waitlist at https://freelancerkit.dev/#waitlist. Core time tracking and invoicing are free and unlimited on every tier with no feature crippling. Client payments go straight to you with 0% markup.

1. Local & self-hosted: free. Will be open-sourced (AGPLv3) at launch. Unlimited everything. Runs on your own Cloudflare account.
2. Cloud Free: $0. Unlimited clients, tasks, time tracking and unbranded PDF invoices. Web only. Hosted invoice links carry a small "Billed via FreelancerKit" footer.
3. Believer key: $39 one-time. 10 designer PDF themes, multiple business profiles, contract/SOW templates, works offline.
4. Cloud Sync: $4/mo billed yearly ($5 monthly). Encrypted sync across Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android and web; 10 GB storage for receipts and PDFs.
5. Portal & Autopilot Pro: $8/mo billed yearly ($10 monthly). Client portal on your own domain, pay buttons and QR codes that mark invoices paid automatically, e-signatures, overdue reminders, 250 AI actions/mo.
6. Studio: $19/mo, up to 5 seats. Subcontractors, margin tracking, 1,000 AI actions/mo.

## Comparisons

- Invoicely: the free plan allows 5 invoices a month and 3 saved clients, and time tracking needs the $9.99 a month Basic plan. FreelancerKit will have no client or invoice caps.
- Toggl Track: time rounding and billable rates need the $9 a month Starter plan. FreelancerKit keeps time, tasks and invoices in one app.
- HoneyBook: the starter plan is $35 a month. FreelancerKit will be free to self-host.
